Purchasing commercial truck insurance is very important for companies using semi-trucks and 18-wheelers to transport large and bulky materials. Employees driving company trucks and vehicles are just as likely to be in an accident as any other driver on the road. In order to better protect your business and employees, you may want to consider these commercial trucking insurance options:
Primary liability insurance is the most standard form of commercial trucking insurance a business can buy.
A primary liability policy will cover damages to a truck while on the road. General liability insurance extends this coverage to include damage to a truck while off the road, such as vandalism or hail.
Another option for commercial truck insurance is truck cargo insurance coverage. This option will protect a truck’s cargo in case it is damaged in an accident, vandalized or stolen. Lastly, non-trucking insurance covers damage to a truck while not in use. For example, if a truck is vandalized or damaged while being stored in a company garage.

Earlier this week, Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley announced a settlement between the state and five motorcycle insurance providers who were charged with determining motorcycle insurance premiums based on un-depreciated and inflated motorcycle prices. Including 7 settlements made earlier this year, a total of 12 insurance providers will be repaying Massachusetts motorcyclists $33.8 million and the state $1.5 million.
The five motorcycle insurance companies involved in the recent settlement are Arbella Mutual Insurance, OneBeacon Insurance, Massachusetts Homeland, Norfolk & Dedham Group and Hanover Insurance Group. They will pay a total of $12.1 million.
The Attorney General’s office began investigations into the state’s motorcycle insurance industry after a single customer complaint. Coakley stated, “As this investigation demonstrates, and as the insurance companies in this state know, when consumers bring complaints to our office, we listen and we take action”.

Purchasing car insurance may seem like an expensive task, however insurance companies offer a variety of common discounts.
People who drive less frequently are often eligible for a discount on their car insurance coverage. Car insurance companies see drivers who take public transportation, or simply do not need to drive very frequently, as less likely to be in an accident or have damage to their vehicle.
In addition, people who appear to not engage in risky behavior are often given discounts on their car insurance. For example, someone who has a history of good driving is more likely to have a lower car insurance premium.
Another common discount is for responsible teenage drivers. Teenage drivers who show responsibility in school are granted discounts on their car insurance coverage. Parents can turn in a student’s honor roll certificate or other documentation that their student is responsible to a car insurance provider to receive a discount.

Motorcyclists, just like any other drivers, are required by law to have some form of liability motorcycle insurance. Whether driving your motorcycle daily or just on occasion, it is important to always be protected with a quality motorcycle insurance plan.
In addition to standard liability motorcycle insurance, motorcyclists have the option of purchasing additional coverage. One type of motorcycle insurance is collision coverage. Purchasing collision coverage will help pay for any repairs to your motorcycle necessary after an accident.
Comprehensive coverage will protect your motorcycle if it is damage by something other than an accident. For example, if your motorcycle is vandalized or dented by hail.
Uninsured/ under insured motorist coverage will protect you if you are in an accident with someone who does not have auto insurance. Normally in accidents the insurance of the person who is at fault will cover the necessary repairs, however unfortunately accidents with drivers who do not have auto insurance happen all the time.
